Dusk inside the golden fort.
The fort turns the colour of honey about an hour before dark. Lanterns come on one by one in the jharokhas, and somewhere below a kitchen starts toasting saffron for the evening.
We bottled that hour. Not the white heat of noon — the slow amber dusk when the desert finally cools.
